ESPERANCE ENERGY PROJECT
The Esperance Energy Project (EEP) provides gas and electrical energy to the South East of Western Australia, south of Kambalda.
EEP was jointly developed by WorleyParsons (formerly Burns and Roe Worley) and Infrastructure Capital Group (formerly ANZ Infrastructure Services). The EEP comprises of a 342 km gas transmission pipeline from Kambalda to Esperance and a 33MW gas-fired power station in Esperance with long term power purchase agreements with Western Power and Esperance Port Authority. This project was later expanded to include a 40 km low pressure natural gas distribution network in the town of Esperance. The power station commenced operation in June 2004, and was expanded from six to seven gas turbines in May 2008. EEP is 100% owned by the Energy Infrastructure Trust.
Infrastructure Capital Group (ICG) is a specialist, independent infrastructure fund manager. ICG is the manager of Diversified Infrastructure Trust and the Energy Infrastructure Trust which were both established to invest in assets across the energy, transport, utility and social infrastructure sectors.
